Curb appeal is as important to rental property as it is to a residential home. As a property owner, who can you rely on to maintain your property so it always looks great and ready to rent?
If you don’t have the time, or desire, to maintain your rental property lawn, consider hiring a lawn service. It will add to expenses, but the time and concern it will save you could be worth it. Decide if you want to hire ala carte so you can have more control of some duties, or if it makes more sense for you to have everything done by a service.
Don’t forget about keeping shrubbery and trees trimmed. Have any dead branches removed and hire professionals to shorten those too-tall trees. Be sure nothing is interfering with utility lines. During a storm, your rental property will be less likely to incur damage and less likely to lose power.
Don’t stop at mowing. There is routine maintenance to a yard as well. Even though it shouldn’t be, the expectations of the landscaping of your luxury townhome may be different from the expectations of your low-income housing units. Treat all of your properties the same and you’ll maintain self-respect and the respect of others.
Having attractive landscaping can affect the attitude of potential and current tenants. As they drive up to the property when they come home from a hard day at work, if the landscaping is all neatly trimmed with everything in place as it should be, it will give them the feeling of order in their home life, even if the rest of the day was disorganized.
